Oxleaze Wood - Guided Walk

In May 2008 a group of Year 5 and 6 children, working with the Great Western Community Forest team, wrote and recorded this guided walk from The Recreation Ground, adjacent to our school, to Oxleaze Woods.

The South Marston community worked closely with GWCF from 2004 onwards planting the woods.

In 2007 the school worked with artist Andy Frost to design a sculpture for the Woods, known as the 'Carecrow'.

Sadly a few weeks after this guided walk was recorded, the Carecrow was burned down in an arson attack.

You can hear the children's description of the Carecrow as a separate sound file.
